This article was based on a natural experiment where they researched how gender and
cultural backgrounds influence norms. Research found that both gender and cultural
backgrounds contributed to how people were affected by peer pressure against the act of
cheating on an assigned group task. Ultimately coming to the conclusion that both factors
contribute to being a hard worker and that creates the norm for or of a group.

This article was based on an experiment taken in Western Fiji on adolescent teens from a
rural community. The study was conducted to see the impact of television introduction
had on the Fijian teens regarding the self and body image. Throughout the study the
realized that television was both constructive and destructive to the adolescents. Data
showed that the adolescents became self-cautious in terms of their body image and

lowered self-esteem resulting in eating disorders. This then created a social hierarchy that
was never there before.
