Your efforts will begin with creating a position statement from a debate topic representing a
controversial topic in business provided by your instructor. Then, your research should explore
sound arguments for and against your position statement. The latter should take into
consideration any claims that refute or oppose your arguments using sound business principles
and research.
Please ensure you adhere to the rules of a formal debate when representing the pro’ or con’
positions of your controversial statement. You will want to create a compelling summary
designed to sway the audience in favour of your debate position.
Requirements
The debate should include findings from a minimum of eight to twelve (8-12) resources with at
least three (3) being peer-reviewed. The debate should range between 45-60 minutes long with
5 minutes for a vote from the audience at the end. Any debate shorter than the minimum time
limit is unlikely to receive a passing grade.

Since this is a formal debate, you may wish to use visuals to sway your audience. APA guidelines
still apply.
